At Blane we take your privacy seriously. This policy explains what data we collect, why, and what your rights are. It applies to the Blane mobile app and the blane.app website.
1. Data controller

2. Data we collect
We only collect the data needed to run Blane:
- Account data: email address, first name/nickname and password (stored encrypted, never in plain text).
- Reading data: books you add, reading sessions, goals, statistics, notes, reviews and badges you create while using the app.
- Technical data: device type, operating system, app version, diagnostic identifiers and error logs.
- Usage data: interactions with the app (screens viewed, features used) collected for analytics purposes.
- Notification token: if you enable reading reminders, a push notification identifier is stored.
We do not collect precise location data and we never sell your data.
3. Purposes and legal bases
- Providing the service (account, reading tracking, statistics) — performance of the contract.
- Sending you reading reminders and notifications — your consent, withdrawable at any time.
- Improving the app and measuring usage — our legitimate interest, via aggregated analytics.
- Ensuring security and preventing fraud — our legitimate interest.
- Meeting our legal obligations — legal obligation.
4. Recipients and processors
Your data may be processed by technical providers acting on our behalf:
- PostHog — analytics and usage measurement.
- Apple and Google — app distribution and push notification delivery (App Store, Google Play, notification services).
- Google Books API — used for book search; your personal data is not shared with it.
- Vercel Inc. — website hosting.
- [HÉBERGEUR DE L’API — ex. Railway, Render, Scaleway, OVH] — hosting of the API and database.
- Our email provider — transactional emails (account verification, password reset).
5. Data retention
Your account and reading data is kept for as long as your account is active. When you delete your account, it is erased within 30 days, unless a legal retention obligation applies. Technical logs are kept for a maximum of 12 months.
6. Transfers outside the EU
Some of our providers (notably Apple, Google) may process data outside the European Union. Such transfers are covered by appropriate safeguards (European Commission standard contractual clauses).
7. Your rights
Under the GDPR, you have the right to access, rectify, erase, restrict, object to and port your data. You can exercise these rights at any time by writing to hello@blane.app.
You may also lodge a complaint with your local data protection authority (in France, the CNIL — www.cnil.fr) if you believe your rights are not respected.
8. Deleting your account
You can delete your account and all your data directly from the app, in your profile settings. You can also request deletion by email; we will process it within 30 days.
9. Security
We implement appropriate technical and organisational measures to protect your data: password encryption, secure connections (HTTPS), secure storage of authentication tokens.
10. Children
Blane is not intended for children under 13. We do not knowingly collect data about children under 13.
11. Cookies and trackers
The blane.app website and the app may use analytics trackers to understand usage. No advertising trackers are used.
12. Changes
We may update this policy. In case of a material change, we will notify you in the app or by email. The last-updated date appears at the top of this page.
